"Multinational Academic Program (MAP)" of Brookhaven College

Since March 2010 Sprachinstitut TREFF PUNKT is approved for transfer credits through the "Multinational Academic Program (MAP)" of Brookhaven College*, Dallas, Texas. Credits can be granted for any of TREFF PUNKT's German courses for beginner to intermediate level programs of 20 weekly hours or more. Following we will explain how to participate in the program. |
| Sprachinstitut TREFF PUNKT in the town of Bamberg, Germany, has established a relationship with Brookhaven College in Dallas, Texas as a Partner Language Institute so that students from Brookhaven and other colleges and universities can earn credits through the Multinational Academic Program (MAP) in Brookhaven College. Students can obtain up to 14 transferable college credits by engaging in German Language courses at Sprachinstitut TREFF PUNKT in Bamberg, Germany and also enrolling in Study Abroad/Individualized Distance Learning courses at Brookhaven College. To obtain information about how to participate in the Multinational Academic Program (MAP), please send an email request to bhcStudyAbroad@dcccd.edu. Once you have received the program information, be sure to seek advance approval from your institution, since each district, college, or state has its own policies regarding the types of credit it will accept. In the meantime, do not delay to make your free application for admission to Brookhaven College by applying on-line at www.dcccd.edu/Future+Students/Admissions+and+Registration/Admission/ Credits will be issued for transfer by Brookhaven
College. Students must register for the credit program with Brookhaven, and an
additional fee is required. If you are interested in

The Brookhaven College Registrar will determine your residency status for fee purposes based on the documents you supply. Program RequirementsThere is a minimum of 20 hours/week and minimum of 3 weeks course requirements for college credit for immersion language study experiences. That information, along with the costs associated with the program, is displayed in the chart above. The course fees for the chosen Treffpunkt Gerrman course is additional. Students should register for the credit program at least 8 weeks prior to their start date. In addition to the hours/weeks requirements, there are several other requirements that must be fulfilled in order for students to receive credit. At the end of the language program Alexandra von Rohr, the adademic director of Sprachinstitut TREFF PUNKT will send a School Report to Brookhaven College containing information regarding student performance in several areas. Together with a statement of how many classroom hours the student completed at the school, Alexandra von Rohr sends scores (a percentage, ranging from 0 to 100) reflecting the student’s achievement and performance for each of these areas:
In addition, each student will need to create and submit a Final Essay directly to Brookhaven Collage on or around the last class day at the Sprachinstitut TREFF PUNKT . In the essay students should describe their own personal study abroad experiences – discussions of the people, culture, language, environment, etc. of the fascinating country they have chosen to visit are all appropriate. The essay must be written in the German, typed double spaced, and at least one page in length for each study abroad course the student seeks credit for at Brookhaven College. Students may register for first and second year German
courses as GERM 1311, 1312, 1411, 1412 2311 or 2312 in that order and will need to
demonstrate competency at each German course level in order to proceed to
