Bamberg is located in northern Bavaria, about
2 ½ hours from Munich or Frankfurt.

Because of its central location it can be reached quickly, easily and comfortably by plane, train and or car.

Also coming in through Munich airportexternal link - help for German language course is easy: Take the express shuttle, which reaches the central railway station of Munich in 20 minutes. From there you can catch a train to Bamberg. There is one every 90 minutes. Total duration of the train ride approx. 2 ½ hrs. Train timetable download pdf - file for arrival in Germany.

Note:  A taxi ride from Nuremberg airport directly to Bamberg will take about an hour and will cost from EUR 65 to EUR 80.

Tips:

  • A tip for all those from the U.K.: Between 20th April 2009 and 24th Oct 2009 Aer Lingus is offering discount flights between London Gatwick and Munich. E.g. A return ticket including all taxes and charges costs just 22.50 Euros between April and June. In July the price is currently set at 51 Euros. There are 2 flights a day >> www.aerlingus.com. On arrival at Munich airport, there are twice hourly connections to Bamberg by train. A quick and inexpensive option is to take the bus to Freising (10 minutes) and travel to Bamberg using the regional express (RE). This way you can take advantage of the low-priced single Bayernticket (20 Euros). For alternative train connections to Bamberg, you will need to change at Munich main station. These connections are mostly with the InterCityExpress (ICE) and cost around 60 Euros, although the journey time is only 30 minutes shorter.

The school is located in the Hauptwachstraße 19. From the train station it is about 15 minutes by foot, from the ZOB (Zentraler Omnibus Bahnhof = central bus station) about 3 minutes. You can reach us in the school daily from 8.30 am until 1.30 pm and in the afternoons from 2.15 to 6.00 pm. However we would like to ask you to arrange a meeting in advance over the phone 0951 2083040. In case there is no answer, please leave a message and we will call you back.
